Curl Up.

What is it about curling that is so captivating? They are sliding a rock across ice. Big deal. Somehow, though, it captures our imaginations and we can’t look away. Well, I can’t look away from the television at all, but that is another story all together. Perhaps it is the Zen like quality of the sport. The slow pace, the calm demeanor of the players, the relative quietness of the gameplay. It is a nice contrast to the noise and excitement of other sports. Perhaps, it is because the players are all kind of, well, softies. They are not the 2% body fat athletes we normally see competing in the Olympics. They all look like professional bowlers. Kind of chubby and dorky. Perhaps it is because they look like regular people and we say to ourselves “Hey, they’re in the Olympics. I could be, too.” Maybe we find women’s curling strangely erotic. Or maybe that’s just me. Whatever it is, it is weird.

Speaking of weird and erotic at the same time, did you know we have an Olympic Women’s Hockey team? I did not know this. That’s hot. I can get behind that 100%. Apparently they are pretty good, too. I haven’t been able to see them play, and probably won’t, seeing as how we don’t have cable hooked up to the television. I caught a glimpse of the curlers while at Lippincottonia yesterday, but other than that I had no idea that the Olympics had already started. If the Olympics don’t call my phone and check in, then I probably don’t know what’s going on there.

Our Women's Hockey Team. Awesome.

I just received a reminder about the French toast-off this coming Sunday. Awesome. I am going into this battle with a yet untested secret weapon. I can’t wait to try it out and not just in that “crush my competitors” kind of way either. It actually sounds really delicious. I think that we have decided that in order to level the playing field, we all have to use the same syrup. That way your syrup doesn’t win the contest, your French toast does. I thought it was pretty smart and fair.

Well, I need to go get ready for work. Apparently I am going to be cleaning out the pug mill, pugging a bunch of clay, then cleaning out the pug mill again today. I’ll be sure to load my iPod up with plenty of stuff before I go. Alright, I’m outta here. More soon. ~SC
