Sorry, But We're Closed.

So, I am not in Philadelphia. Nor will I be in Philadelphia anytime soon. I am not there because the lady behind the counter’s computer told her that Philly was closed. So, she told us to return today to try again, then she sent us home. Yesterday, I woke up at 3am in order to get a bunch of stuff done before I left, so I was exhausted by 6am when I returned home. I promptly went back to bed. Apparently Le Duke called at like 7:30am to inform me that we should cancel the whole trip. So, when I got up at 10:30am, listened to the message, and finally comprehended what it was about Le Duke was already on his way to Dallas for his trip. I finally reached him around 11am and after a little back and forth about it, I resigned to cancel the trip.

I then spent the next two hours on the phone canceling flights, hotels, shipments, booths, and ensuring that out crate got moved back into storage. There was lots of dancing to hold music in front of a giant mirror.

So, instead of spending my week/weekend standing around waiting for people to buy stuff from me, I get to move more of my crap. Woo! I am always fantasizing about just throwing it all away and living a life of simplicity, but I always snap back to reality and am like “Hey, there’s my little gun that throws tiny plastic Ninjas. I could not possibly throw that away.” And the whole thing falls apart. But as the French say “Zat ees life.”

The most interesting part of this turn of events is that for the first time ever in our relationship, Pancake Land and I will be together on St. Valentine’s day. Everyone keeps saying that we should do something big, but we are sort over the holiday by now. When you haven’t had a St. Valentine’s day in over 5 years, you sort of adopt an apathetic attitude toward that day. I don’t know what we are going to do yet. Maybe we will sit around in our new house and eat ice cream whilst watching the his and her Swayze combo of Dirty Dancing and Road House. You never know with us. We might treat it like Halloween and toilet paper your house. You’ll just have to wait and see.

Well, I need to go fine tune my next article for the City Wire. I’ll let you know when it’s up. More soon. ~SC
