I Think Those Tiny DayGlo Pink Headphones Are For Women.

Well, it’s Friday. No class this morning, thank goodness. It also means that my new article is up on the City Wire. You can read it here. I somehow missed this week’s SModcast, so I get to listen to that today. I also discovered that this new iPod has a built in pedometer. Despite the fact that it makes it sound like my mp3 player keeps track of how many children I touch in their swimsuit areas, I am quite fascinated to know how many steps I take in the course of a day. I’ll let you know tomorrow.

Yesterday, after lunch, Teacher Sis and I ran out to Le Target to make a clearance run. I had had my eye on these tiny little JBL earbud-style headphones for a while and yesterday they were finally marked down to $5, so I bought a pair. If you are a person who doesn’t wear headphones ever then you probably are not aware that they are stupid expensive. In fact everything that you can think of that is an “accessory” for a portable entertainment device is expensive. Anyway, originally these headphones were like $20, which is outrageous, which is why I am always hunting for headphones on clearance. Also, you have to take into consideration the fact that most headphones have a life expectancy of about three to six months in my universe. That translates to somewhere between $40 and $80 a year for full price headphones. I mean, for chrissakes, I know little Chinese kids are making these things for 20¢ a day. I saw the documentary. I am not that gullible.

Oh, speaking of gullible, did you know that that word is not in the dictionary? It’s really not. Don’t believe me? Look it up, here.

Moving on. So, yeah, cheap headphones. Well, I got them home and opened them and they are hot pink. Plus they come with this little DayGlo carrying bag (purse). I was thinking that maybe they were just designed to look like horrible 1980s fashion, that was until I read the literature that came with them. The paperwork informed me that these earbuds were designed to fit perfectly inside women’s ears. Awesome. Well, luckily for me, I have tiny ears. The thing that gets me, is that no where on the outside of the box does it say anything about these headphones being designed for women. You couldn’t even see the hot pinkness of them until you opened them. Tricky, tricky. Hey, it’s tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that’s right on time…it’s tricky.

Today is a short day since I don’t have Chemistry today. So, the sooner I get started, the sooner I can come home and study my Chemistry. There really is no escaping it. I know. More soon. ~SC
