The Tricycle Dilemma.

July 13, 2010 by sandwichcontrol

So, Pancake Land bought a truck. Well, sort of a truck. It is more like an SUV with a truck bed stuck onto it. Anyways, it is pretty sweet. All of this new truck business has got me thinking about doing the much needed upgrades to my tricycle. Now the great debate begins. Do I spend the money and buy upgrade parts and have to install them myself, or do I spend the money on a brand new tricycle that is already upgraded.

What I want is a multiple speed trike with fenders on all the wheels and front and rear brakes. I have been wanting to be put a motor on my trike so that I could join the scooter gang, but the only motor kits that I have found will get me up to 19kmh which is hardly fast enough to keep up with 400cc engines. I did find some pretty sweet stuff whilst I was looking at tricycles and parts for tricycles.

Specimen One: The Liberty Electric Adult Tricycle

This bad boy retails for about $1800.

Specimen Two: The Rare 1930’s Horse Tricycle

Words cannot express how badly I want this.

Those are two coolest trikes that I found. I did get an email from Pancake Land with a little porn for bikers and trikers out there. Apparently, someone on Etsy makes custom leather accessories for bicycles (and tricycles). You can see the stuff here. I am particularly fond of the mason jar holder.

I don’t know what I am going to do. I guess I’ll keep debating about it until something happens. Like I find a trike that is already upgraded and they will take my trike as a trade in. That would be sweet.

Well, I guess I need to take my indecisive self to work. More soon. ~SC

First off 40cc engines are what we rock, not 400cc. Good lord that would be fast. Secondly you are already in the gang you just ride lone wolf. Or hopefully one day you can ride lone pony style. That thing is amazing, no one could dare laugh at you on the pony. No one! Also I want the can cage or mason jar holder. Those are pretty nice.
I suggest you get yourself the parts for an engine upgrade and do what you can, with the help of our more mechanically inclined friends and have a shop do what you cant. You will definitely need to go faster than 10 miles an hour to hang with the Lords of the LHP. Do it.

  2. Dave says:

Correction – 49cc or in the case of the Bee, closer to 59cc.
Also I just found your new ride
    yeah you’re welcome

  3. Word to Me says:

Big D said he might buy your old trike (for me) if you get a new one. Just a thought…

  4. The Scooter Trike is bad ass! I want one!
