All Hail the Portable Meal!

November 3, 2010 by sandwichcontrol

If you were unaware, today is the Anniversary of the birth of John Montagu, fourth Earl of Sandwich. Therefore, in celebration of his birthday, November 3 is declared National Sandwich Day! I forgot to celebrate it last year and caught Hell for it. This year, I am celebrating it by working and eating Chinese leftovers. Hey, get off my back. If I don’t eat the leftovers, I’ll have no room in the fridge for the wonderfully delicious chicken fried steaks, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn that I will be preparing for dinner tonight.

Please, do not follow my example. Please eat a sandwich in honor of the Patron Saint of Sandwiches. I had intended on going to Cara’s for lunch to celebrate with a fellow sandwich eater, but I’m on the trike today, plus the leftovers, equals no Cara’s for lunch. Sucks. That’s the way the toasted croissant crumbles, though.

This post is being typed in Microsoft Word, just so you know. I went to sign into the website and apparently we are having the same issues as we had on Sunday. Awesome. The good news is that you can’t see the page either. You go there and get a page-cannot-be-displayed screen as well. Sometimes, you can see the page and I cannot get to it, or I can’t login to edit, etc. Not today, though. Today we suffer together.

Once this gets posted, hopefully early this morning, I will show you this link that D-Man sent me last night. It is a link to a Huffington Post article about 12 chef’s favorite sandwiches. It makes me want to fly all over the country and try these sandwiches. Anyway, to look at the thing about some chefs’s favorite sandwiches, click here.

I’m not a chef, but here is one of my favorite sandwiches:

Well, in the really real world, it is time for me to go to work. I am going to be emailing this to myself so that I can post it later today when the site becomes operational again. It is too early for me to try and get my head wrapped all of this past-present-future participle business.

Anyway, off to work and Zoology lab. More soon. ~SC
