It is Monday. School starts for me in a week. A week after that Pancake Land and I are off to the beach for a week. A warm sunny beach by the ocean is going to a welcome sight seeing as how I woke up with a chill in my bones and am currently wearing two hoodies and a beanie inside my house.
I emailed Dave yesterday requesting the originals of the photo of me on the bed. You know, the one from yesterday. He emailed them to me a few hours later with a note that said something about him having a dream where he was wearing a t-shirt that said “WWDDYD?” on it. Apparently, that stands for “What Would Drunk Dwight Yoakum Do?”. Brilliant.
After that, this next story is going to be the equivalent of me giving you a dollar and then promptly slashing the tires of your car. So Pancake Land calls me into the living room yesterday afternoon to inform me that on New Years day, over 5,000 Red-Winged Blackbirds dropped dead and fell from the sky in Beebe, Arkansas. They think it might be lightning or high-altitude hail that struck a group of flying Blackbirds and then distributed their corpses around an area one mile in diameter. To read more about it this terrifying shit, click here: Plague of Birds.
If that wasn’t messed up enough, an hour later, Pancake Land calls me back into the living room to tell me that while birds were falling from the sky in Beebe, 125 miles to the West, in the town of Ozark, 100,000 Drum fish went belly up in that section of the Arkansas River. Awesome. To read more about this, click here: Plague of Fishes.
After that exciting news, I spent a relaxing Sunday afternoon boarding up the windows and arming myself heavily. Then I thought to myself: WWDDYD? And I felt better. I took down the boards, unloaded all the guns, and I grilled some steaks and veggies. Although, we didn’t really barricade ourselves in the house, we did spend a good deal of yesterday cleaning up after the holidays explosion of presnents and visitors. Add cat hair to the mix and the place was looking a little shabby. It’s all better now, though.
After all that creepy and depressing stuff, I feel I should cheer you up. Voila:
Don’t you feel better now. That’s good. I have to get ready to go to work, but I want to point out that I got the 2009 Daily Photos gallery all cleaned up and finished for you, so be sure to check it out. Can you believe it has been 2 years? That just blows my mind. We’ve come a long way in two years. Or, maybe not. Whatever. Anyway, check out 2009 and have a good day. More soon. ~SC
