Team Science Vs. Team Plant Operations.

Hey, despite what it feels like, it is Friday. That means my new article is up on the City Wire. If you want to read it click here: Pita Punch! If you don’t want to read it click here: Lesbian Seagulls.

So, I went to school yesterday. For the most part, the ice had been cleared off the sidewalks. All but the area around the Math/Science building. The sidewalks there were covered with ice. I mean covered. You would think that a building full of scientists could melt a little ice. So, I ask my microbiology professor why there was still ice completely surrounding the building. He said that they (the scientists) weren’t allowed to handle the matter due to university policies about letting “Plant Operations” deal with ice. Oh, good ol’ university policies. I will give them a little credit. Plant Operations did put down a little of their blue ice melt stuff. But it just froze, too. Eventually, they just roped off the back of the building because by 8:30am at least 25 people had slipped and fallen in that one area. That’s not counting the front of the building. I’m sure the Plant Operations has to consider the effects that putting down certain ionic compounds (i.e. rock salt) would have on the vegetation that grows near the sidewalk, but at least pour some hot water out there or something. Granted, by the time I headed back to the M/S building for lab, P.O. had brought over their Bobcat and physically scraped the ice off the ground. Whatever works. It still sucks that the science professors had to sit back and idly watch as student after student slipped and fell. On second thought, perhaps Team Science had more to do with the ice than they let on. It does seems suspicious that our building was the only one completely surrounded by ice. Hmm…

I finished Sorcerer’s Stone last night. That shit is captivating. I’ve got Teacher Sis digging through her stacks-o-books to see if she has any of the other books in paperback. I would normally be going for the hard back, but this whole lugging a book to read everywhere I go thing gets old when the book weighs 200 lbs (90.7kg).

Anyway, I’m not going to get much of a chance to read for fun this weekend anyway. K has loaded on the assignments for the Bookmaking/Fine Printing class, so I’ve got chap books to read and lots of stuff to research and sketch out. Note to self: find a rubber stamp of wood grain, at least 4 inches square.

Hey, Furious Jessy just helped Dave rebuild his site. It looks nice. Click here to see it: Robocop.

Holy crap! Look at the time! I’ve gotta get to work. Happy Friday. More soon. ~SC
