Deep Dark Chocolate Pocket of My Bathrobe.

Yesterday was the day when the family started stressing each other out. So, what do I do when I’m stressed? I go bargain  hunting. Teacher Sis and I left Prince Jazzbo to suffer from a hangover and headed off 30 miles down the road to visit a place of legend for us. IKEA.

We’d never been to one, but I’ve spent hours pouring over the catalogs so I knew just how dangerous it would be in there. Or, I thought I did. It was infinitely more dangerous than I could have imagined. I managed to hold my self control together until we reached the final stretch and then the levy broke and Hell came with it. I bought a hammock that can be permanently left up in my house, so the cats won’t destroy my good hammock. I got some freezer tubs for chili and spaghetti sauce. I got zippy bags. I got some beautiful scientific prints, some wonderful images of wood type, and a photo of typewriter keys. I also snagged a wall clock that was too fantastic to pass up, a jar of lindenberry preserves, and the snuggliest clearance bathrobe ever. Also, I saw this and thought of you Furious Jessy:

Flatware for total badasses.

Then it was back to the hotel to grab Prince Jazzbo and head back over the fam’s for a Mexican food lunch feast. We struggled with trying not to take a nap until my Uncle was ready to head home. Apparently he had some old camera equipment he’s been wanting to get rid of and, upon discovering my love of old cameras, decided to give them to me. So, we followed him to the house and picked that up. The cases for these things alone are worth the trip to pick them up, but the cameras inside the cases just blew me away. Walking into the hotel with them made me feel like a professional killer:

After leaving my uncle’s house, we stopped off at the Container Store. Holy Sweet Baby Jesus. This place is super dangerous, too. I ended up walking away with a reusable drink container that looks like a soda can, a soup bowl made to hold in one hand while eating, and a lab glassware measuring cup.

Then it was off to World Market. More danger. I ended up with a jar of banana and chocolate spread, some ramen noodles, a handmade praline, Herbes d’ Provence, and some Hemingway tea. Overall, Team Trashbag totally won this round of bargain hunting:

Our cousin bailed on us for dinner, so we munched on some grindage next to the hotel, collected our stuff from the car, and called it a night.

I don’t really know what the plan is for this morning, as far as seeing the fam before we split goes , but I know we’re hitting the road soon. With that, I must pack up my lappy and help load the car. Send us some good road doogies today, please. More soon. ~SC
