And your sketchbooks.

You are about to have an assignment.

But first, Furious Jessy has made a not-so-angry post. It’s about Outlander. Outlander being the book that I am reading. Outlander being the thing that Jackie the Mick and I are cutting our teeth on in the podcast about two dudes reading girly books. Outlander being the new series on Starz. Fucking Sassenachs.

Yesterday was a day spent researching merchandise. At some point during the research, I had a brilliant idea. I discovered that I could very easily, and rather inexpensively, order die-cut stickers. Fancy, weather (and dishwasher) proof vinyl stickers. And the idea struck me that I have lots of artist friends. People whose talents I have not been utilizing (exploiting) to shamelessly promote the website. So, that it precisely what I decided to do.

Here’s the deal, I want you draw-ers out there to make a drawing or a doodle for me. I will then turn that drawing into a sticker that I will turn around and sell to help pay for upgrades to the website.

I have reached out to a handful of you already, but if I haven’t personally sent you a message, fret not. It is because the sheer volume of questions I received back overwhelmed me and I figured it would just be easier to settle all of this on here. So, here are the parameters for the drawing:

The drawing can be whatever you want. Try to keep it simple and PG-13 (no line-drawings of penises, please). It should include the name of the website somewhere in the drawing (sandwichcontrol.com). The stickers will either be 4 inch die-cut or 4 inch squares with rounded corners. I haven’t decided yet. Either way, you can go to Sticker Mule to check out the templates for formatting specifications. You can send me multiple drawings, but more than likely only one will make it into sticker form.

So, that’s it. Make a drawing. I’ll make it into a sticker. And sell it. Since there will, hopefully, be a lot of you doing drawings, I am working on a way of compensating you for your drawings. I can’t afford to pay you all cash, but I need to own the drawings so as to profit from them, so my solution is a simple one. I’ll give you 20% of the first run of stickers as payment. Who wouldn’t want stickers of their drawings? And then the drawing is mine. Forever.

If these terms are not agreeable with you, then you don’t have to submit a drawing. (Or contact me and we can work out a trade for something else or something.) No hard feelings. This is just a way to for you, as a reader of this dumb website, to participate in this dumb website. And seriously, I’m not asking for works of art here. I want silly, fun doodles.

The drawing can be anything. A simple line drawing or a full color cartoon. Whatever.

I have had a handful of people ask me about what to draw. If you need inspiration, I suggest that you roam around on the website for a bit and see if a phrase or image captures your imagination. And then run with it. In addition to the stickers, I’ll also be creating a special gallery page to showcase the drawings. Be warned, I’ll probably use real names to credit you (unless you ask me not to) so that you get the props you deserve.
