And It’s Hard To Dance.

With the Devil on your back.

Guess what.

It’s 2016.

And thus begins the Year of Songs.

The song of the day for this New Year’s Day is “Shake It Out” by Florence + The Machine.

Today’s song was brought you by Miss Betty. It really is a perfect song to start out the year and this project. Funny how randomly picking songs out of a container can do that, huh? You should send her a note of appreciation for such an appropriate beginning of the year song.

As predicted, my wood type showed up yesterday. As predicted, I wasn’t home. As predicted the postman left the peach card of doom in my mailbox.

What no one expected, but really should have, was me driving all over the neighborhood trying to find my mail carrier and get my coddamned type. I ended up going to the post office to try and hunt down my carrier via their managers. But no need. My type was waiting for me when I got to the post office.

Wanna see it?

Isn’t it pretty?

So, having no real plans for celebrating New Year’s, I opted to order a pizza and get to work doing what I love. Which is making a mess. I cranked the Tom Waits up real loud, ate pizza, printed a postcard, and set type for a poster. A poster I’ll attempt to print today. The first of 2016.

I originally was going to set the type for an Ernest Hemingway quote I really want to make a poster of, but I quickly discovered that a) If set in 8 line type, it won’t fit on my page. And b) I don’t have enough new type to set it anyway.

Wah wah waaaahhhh…

So, I set the type for a totally different poster. One that is more in keeping with the theme that seems to be developing around this New Year’s Day. Which is one of self-improvement.

Like an inchworm. Moving forward a little bit every day.

Tune in later to see what I get up to in today’s Daily Photo.

And welcome to 2016.

See ya’ tomorrow.

More soon. ~SC
