This Ain’t No Party.

This ain’t no disco.

This ain’t no foolin’ around.

If you hadn’t guessed, today’s song is “Life During Wartime”by the Talking Heads. You can thank Monkey Meat for getting this stuck in your head.

I really love the version from “Stop Making Sense”…

David Byrne is such an alien.

Yesterday I rested. Or, rather, I rested as much as I possibly know how. I listened to my body. It was telling me to take it easy. It was telling me that I am sick and don’t feel great. So, I dialed it back. Thursdays are usually madness. Yesterday was a whole lotta nothing. I had all this free time. Time that I just couldn’t waste.

I tried reading. I got 8 chapters in to “An Object of Beauty” by Steve Martin and put it down. I just couldn’t get into it. So, I picked up “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern instead. I got as far as putting my bookmark in it and then went off to do something else.

I was falling asleep.

I’m not made for sitting still.

After I took yesterday’s Daily Photo, I started working on props and planning for upcoming photos.

I was spending time on YouTube looking up songs, so of course, I fell down a rabbit hole for a while. I did watch this magical little concert…

I really have grown to love this band.

They are on Partisan Records, which has the Dismemberment Plan and Sylvan Esso, so there you go. I am particularly fond of how awkward the lead singer is. The shyest and most socially uncomfortable frontman (frontwoman?) ever.

I feel like I could probably play pencil and paper RPGs with them.

Ahem.

Anyway.

I spent time planning. Getting ahead of the playlist. Once I get done working today, I’m going to continue that push to get ahead. I’m hoping to get most of February planned and organized by the end of the weekend. It’s a bit ambitious, but still.

I have a photo shoot for Belle Starr Antiques tomorrow. Other than that, my weekend is open to working on the planning of the other photoshoots. It’ll be nice to take photos of stuff that’s not me for a change.

I mean, that was the whole point of me starting the Daily Photo project back in 2009. To take photos. The self portrait part was only to force myself to carry my camera. Back before there was a camera on every cell phone. I’m sure my phone had a camera. But it was probably terrible. And I didn’t have texting back then, so there was no chance that I would have used my phone for taking pictures.

Anyway, I get to photograph other stuff this weekend. Yay! And other people, too. It’s gonna be weird. Not really. I did that last weekend. Being a photographer is the best thing in the world for a person with social anxiety. I have a camera to hide behind the whole time.

My camera is my Patronus.

It protects me.

Whoa. Things are getting very DayQuilized in this post.

I should probably go to my doctor’s appointment.

Nothing critical.

Wart trial stuff.

See ya’ tomorrow.

More soon. ~SC
