“I have nothing to give her that lacks nothing at all.”

“You are the door through which the cold gets in.”

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that Marget “La Duchess” Lippincott died in the small hours of Friday in a hospital in Antigua, Guatemala.

She was a second mom to me. A friend. A mentor. An artist. An author. A teacher. An amazing human being.

She was a shining example of what we all aspire to be.

And I will miss her deeply.

Marget always encouraged me to read. She was one of the first to really push me to read, and later, to write. Her last act of encouragement in reading was to introduce me to the Island comic magazine. She never stopped encouraging me.

She always knew how to bring out the best in people.

The world will miss her light and her fearless love.

The Duchess is dead.

God save the Duchess.

More soon. ~SC

I am dumbfounded. I’m so sorry. I wish I could hug you all, those who were close to her. I love you.

  2. Adrian says:

I had much more interaction with Peter…but the few times I visited with her I came away with such a wealth of information….or a new obsession she helped fuel. The first time I met her she gave me a giant rug loom and told me how to use it. I’ve never told anyone this before but when I was left with four small kids I supported us with that gift…for years. I’m very sorry for your loss just doesn’t seem to cover it.
