Getting Philosophical.

Mostly about Bill & Ted.

I’d like to begin this morning by wishing a very Happy Birthday to Sweet Dee, whose birthday was yesterday, and to Shamrock, whose birthday is today. Be sure to wish them happy ones as well.

What a strange weekend.

I had my quarterly reminder of why I don’t have a dog.

But I did a fair amount of comic book reading…

Saturday, April 21

That is or was, in between all of the random work stuff I had to do all weekend.

But I did get completely caught up on Deadly Class. I was gonna resume Planetary, but got sucked into Umbrella Academy instead.

I finally got done with work around 3pm yesterday.

Then I got to work around the house. Doing all the stuff I had put off because I was housesitting.

I also got some snuggle time in with the cats…

Sunday, April 22

I’ve been listening to “A Prayer For Owen Meany” lately. I totally get why Jackie the Mick loves this book.

It talks a lot about their experiences at school and it dawned on me over the weekend that their experience of school was quite different from my own. And probably most people’s in my generation.

People my age rarely quote poetry or philosophers or politicians or religious leaders outside of a meme. Those things are another generation’s popular culture. But they are not ours. We quote a movie or musician or celebrity. We quote Dumbledore, and the Big Lebowski, and the Notorious RBG. They are the Robert Frost, and FDR, and Pope John Paul the 2nd of my generation.

We reference things that we grew up with. My peers were raised by televisions and so we quote televisions.

Just as the next generation will reference YouTubers and whatever else the kids these days are into. They will never experience television like we did. They are being raised by smart phones and tablets. Hopefully all of those people will be crushed under the mountain of fuck-ups caused by previous generations and the bacteria will wipe the earth clean of all humans once and for all.

That’s my hope for the world anyway.

Anywho, that’s what I was thinking about this weekend while eating pizza and wings.

I hope you kids have a great week. Keep taking those antibiotics for every sniffle!

I’m going to go do push-ups now.

See ya’ tomorrow.

More soon. ~SC
