They’re bee-utiful.

Now you know my real reason for getting into beekeeping.

The endless supply of bee related humor.

Before I go on about my bees, I’d like to stop and wish a very Happy Birthday to Man With the Plan. Bee sure to wish him one as well.

I’m never gonna get tired of this.

So, as you may have guessed, my bees arrived yesterday.

It.

Was.

Amazing.

I’m in love.

I took the opportunity yesterday to strap on the ol’ macro lens as I was transferring the bees into their new homes.

Wanna see something absolutely beautiful?

Isn’t she gorgeous?!

You don’t think so?

Well, I guess beauty is in the eye of bee holder…

Wednesday, April 04

See what I did there?

It was a twofer.

So, yeah. Yesterday was bee day.

While I was waiting around for the UPS man to show up with my sweet ladies, I kicked a lot of ass. I even read some comics because I had run out of asses to kick.

Speaking of UPS delivery persons, the bee delivery was my strangest encounter with a delivery person so far.

It wasn’t that he was afraid of them per se. I can’t really put my finger on it actually. It was just strange. He walked up carrying the bees as if they were a regular box full of not bees, set them down at my feet, said “Here are your bees, sir.”, thanked me, shook my hand, and told me to have a wonderful day. Then he turned and left. I’ve never had a delivery person thank me as if I was the one delivering a package to them. Let alone shake my hand.

I didn’t think on it too long, though. Because I had nine pounds of bees to go hang out with.

I only caught a few glimpses of my queens. They were caged and engulfed by handmaidens. But when they come out, rest assured I’ll take their photos for you.

I can already tell that the hardest part of beekeeping is to leave them alone. I just wanna go hang out with them all the time. Ugh.

Okay. I’ve loads of stuff to do today. In addition to the normal stuff, I’ve got to go up the hill for work.

I’m off to it.

See ya’ tomorrow.

More soon. ~SC
