Lonely heartburn clan.

The word of the is: Streisand.

Streisand
/ (?stra?sænd) /
noun
Barbra. born 1942, US singer, actress, and film director: the films she has acted in include Funny Girl (1968) and A Star is Born (1976); her films as actress and director include Yentl (1983), Prince of Tides (1990), and The Mirror has Two Faces (1996)

In looking up stuff on Barbra, I discovered something called “The Streisand Effect”.

Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about it:

“The Streisand effect is a phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of increasing awareness of that information, often via the Internet. It is named after American singer Barbra Streisand, whose attempt to suppress the California Coastal Records Project photograph of her residence in Malibu, California, taken to document California coastal erosion, inadvertently drew greater attention to it in 2003.[1]

Attempts to suppress information are often made through cease-and-desist letters, but instead of being suppressed, the information receives extensive publicity, as well as media extensions such as videos and spoof songs, which can be mirrored on the Internet or distributed on file-sharing networks.[2][3]

The Streisand effect is an example of psychological reactance, wherein once people are aware that some information is being kept from them, they are significantly more motivated to access and spread that information.[4]

In some cases, taking out a legal injunction prohibiting something from being published leads to increased publicity.”

I kinda feel like that was written by a 9th grader who wrote it as an essay and needed to fluff up their word count.

As a former 9th grader who grew up getting snide little comments written by their teachers, I feel their plight.

And look at me now.

Also, is it just me, or did anyone else have English teachers with unusual last names.

I had an Askew and a Haggard in junior holla high school.

It always struck me as oddly poetic.

Like people changed their last names when accepted into the language arts education program.

Like film actors.

Adult and otherwise.

Wow.

This post really took and unexpected turn.

To be fair, there aren’t really any expected turns when it comes to these things.

I just sort of open my brain mouth and stuff comes out.

And look at where that has gotten me.

Precisely.

I’m going to make some more coffee and head to work.

See ya’ tomorrow.

More soon. ~SC
