I Don’t Wanna Go To Work Today.

I feel like someone shoved a cotton ball into my right nasal cavity while I was sleeping. Now, that cotton ball has filled with mucus, which is angry at having to hangout in a cotton ball, and is slowly dripping into the back of my throat. One searing drop at a time. Then my throat, being pissed off at being slowly burned by the dripping mucus, took its frustrations out by punching me in the sternum. The weird thing is, I don’t feel sick at all. It just feels like I breathed a bunch of dust or something and my breathing apparatus is irritated.

And my feet hurt. Why do my feet hurt? Because I wore cowboy boots all day yesterday. Why did wear boots all day? Because my trusty brown shoes got soaked when I rode through the monsoon on Monday and are still wet. So, that means I will be stuck in boots again today. I guess I will eventually get used to them.

So last night, right in the middle of working a Math problem with my student, the tornado sirens went off. Right after they started, Pancake Land got home and the power promptly shut off. Then we wrangled my student and his little brother, who had arrived with their dad a few minutes after Pancake Land, into the bath tub, and us grown ups huddled around the trusty weather radio. When we got an “all clear” from the weather radio, my student and his crew headed home and P.L. and I played Skip-Bo by candlelight. Well, for about thirty minutes until the power came back on. Then we headed to our respective laptops to check emails.

Then, it was pizza time. So I called in the order and headed over to pick it up. I’m glad the menu worked out that we were having take out on the night that the power went out. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have gotten anything else accomplished. But, as it turns out, I managed to get my article written up just in time for me to clean the kitchen and hit the sack.

Well, it is time for me to head to work. Try and stay dry today. More soon. ~SC

I rode home as the chaos consumed everyone. Little Miss Cotton and I stood out in the road and watched the vortices of clouds forming with sirens all around us. It was exciting.
