I’ve Got Blisters.

On my fingers. (Not really.)

I did use scissors a lot yesterday though. So much so that I expected to have a blister. But I don’t.

Cool story.

99% of yesterday was spent working on the playlist. My back was hurting by the end of the day because I need anti-fatigue mats everywhere in my studio. But let me tell ya’, having that giant work table out in the open is the bee’s knees. It was so effing nice to be able to spread out all of my work and walk around it.

So, I compiled the master list.

Playlist

Then I set about marking out the duplicates of songs (keeping one copy, obviously). After that, I went through and added contributors names to each song. I added an extra song because I forgot that 2016 is a leap year. The free song that I added has been labeled “Freebie – Dealer’s Choice”.

When it comes up on the calendar, I get to play whatever I want. It’ll probably be a song about a kitchen. You know that I’ll be having withdrawals from taking my Daily Photo in my kitchen by that point.

After I got all the songs compiled and labeled, I began cutting them out and folding them up. They all got dumped into a giant glass cylinder and mixed thoroughly.

Then at around 9pm I drew the first song at random and added it to the calendar. I worked on the calendar for about another 45 minutes before realizing what time it was and heading home to go to bed. Because I am old. I managed to get all of January and February assigned. Let me just say that the song for day one is quite appropriate.

So far, I am very impressed by this whole project. The public interest in it, the choices of songs, all of it. I’m kind of dumbfounded by how few duplicates there were. Only 10 songs were repeated.

As per a conversation I had with Amy the Amazing, apparently my theme song is “Regulate” by Warren G ft. Nate Dogg. Three people put it down. That’s the max level of duplication on the playlist. And that blew my mind.

The variety of people who participated. The variety of music that they picked. I’m just floored. And humbled. And grateful.

This is gonna be a good year. No pressure or anything.

Today I am continuing the song assignments and beginning to plan the first week of photos. My goal is to stay ahead of the songs by at least a week. I’m gonna at least start out strong.

I’d better get this show on the road.

See ya’ tomorrow.

More soon. ~SC
