Man, That’s Alotta Spam.

Hey it’s Monday. And it’s St. Valentine’s day. Ugh. That’s the nice thing about Pancake Land, she doesn’t care about minor holidays designed for petty commercialism. She saves up her commercialism for Grismas and blows it all in one giant fell swoop. But, she doesn’t care about St. Valentine’s day as much as I don’t care about it. Which is handy, seeing as neither of us feel forced to do something nice for each other on this one day, thereby freeing us to do random nice things everyday throughout the year.
Our plans for this evening? I’m making risotto so that P.L. doesn’t starve while I’m away (risotto always makes a pretty good amount of leftovers). [Insert the sound of Italians everywhere gasping.] After that, we’ll probably play a couple of games because most of my toys will be packed up in suitcases by then. Maybe Skip-Bo or Battleship. Yeah, definitely Battleship. I keep meaning to buy Connect Four, but finding the Original version is getting trickier and trickier. They are always the Toy Story edition or the SpongeBob SquarePants version, which is incredibly irritating.
So, here’s something weird. For any of you familiar with how WordPress works, this will be rather boring, but for everybody it should be interesting. Maybe, but probably not. Anyways, in WordPress, you can add these “widgets” that allow your site to do different things automatically. See the thing to the right that says “New & Updated”? That’s a widget. It updates that automatically, thus making my life easier. What? You really think that I would do this everyday is there was any real challenge to it? I don’t think so. Anyway, point being, one widget you can add helps prevent the comment version of junk mail. Pretty much SPAM comments. These are generated randomly by computers out there in the innerweb based on generated content. Since typing at you is so easy, I generate a lot of content, thus affording me lots of SPAM. So, long and short of it, yesterday I was checking in to see if there were comments and whatnot and noticed that there were 141 SPAM comments. The best part of the whole scenario is that each one was on a different photo. How they managed to comment on individual photos, I have no idea. But, lucky for me, I have my handy dandy widget to stop them from filling in every nook and cranny of the site. Usually the messages are just gibberish, but every great once in a while I’ll get some Engrish gold waxing poetically about my writing style or something. It makes me feel good to delete them. I don’t really know why.
I somehow managed to not take a shower yesterday. I think that between the getting up late, the sheer volume of crap I had to do, and my computer’s insistence on “thinking” about everything for a while before it did it, my day was doomed to be showerless from the start. I did manage to get everything else done, though. Two articles in the bag. Grocery shopping and Ava washing done. Ate some pizza and watched snippets of Pancake Land’s Lord of the Rings marathon, check. Washed all of my clothes and packed my suitcase, for the most part, yeah. Sweet. All that is left before Philly is work today, dinner, and Battleship.
That said, I’m off to get some shit done, son. Happy St. Valentine’s Day. More soon. ~SC
P.S. You didn’t think that I would forget to give you devoted readers a little gift on St. V’s Day did you?
