Busy Doing Nothin’.

So, my article went up later in the day, yesterday, on the City Wire. My editor was a little preoccupied covering a welcome event for the new director of the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum and the death of our former Mayor, Ray Baker. But, he didn’t forget about me, so if you want to read my article, click here: Awesome Sandwich. If you don’t want to read my new article click here: the Color Purple.
Yesterday was a day chock-a-block full of doing nothin’. Not nothing really, but I don’t really have a lot to show for it. The Royal family of Lippincottonia has been talking about getting iPhones for business purposes, so I said that, rather than having to buy two phones, I would gladly give them my iPhone, because it was nothing more to me than a very fancy paperweight. So, I spent a good deal of yesterday getting the phone reset to factory settings and adding La Duchess’s contacts, calender, and music to it. This sounds like an easy task, but it was not and it took quite a bit of creative finagling on my part. You see, La Duchess’s computer is running OS X 10.4 which does not support the new version of iTunes, thereby making it impossible to update the iPhone on her computer. So, I had to export her contacts, calender, and music to Le Duke’s computer, import them all, update the phone there in his iTunes, and then delete all of her stuff again. It took forever. And then there was the teaching her to use the phone. Since I used the phone as a paperweight, there was a pretty good learning curve on my part as well.
In the midst of all of that fun time, I went over to the school and filled out my application for graduation. Whoa, there. Hold your friggin’ horses. It is not what you think. Well, it sort of is. As most of you know, I’ve been going to school for something like five years, now. It dawned on me the other day that I probably have enough credits to have my Associates of Arts. So, I checked. Sure enough, I do. I talked to my academic advisor about it and he thought it was a good idea to pursue getting it. Sort of a milestone. Something physical to show for all of my effort. So, I went yesterday to make it happen. The advising department was booked up for the day, so rather than making me wait, the secretary, or rather, the guy at the desk, did me a solid and filled out all of the paper work and had me sign it. He assured me that he would get it into the system for the “Summer I graduation”. I am not walking during graduation. There will be no robes. No funny hat. Not for this guy. I’m saving that for my Bachelor’s degree. The only thing that might stop my degree from happening is my current Microbiology course. Apparently, I need it to get the degree. So, that said, I can’t fuck this up.
Oh, and I did some homework, rearranged the layout on this here website, and read some more Order of the Phoenix. That pretty much sums up yesterday.
Today, I’ve got loads to do. Number one, I’ve got finish this post. After that, I’ve got to get Pancake Land out of bed and on the road for the girl’s day out. Once she’s gone, I’m going to take a shower and, hopefully, get the ever shrinking Big D to do my taxes. Then, the plan is to meet up with Sweet Bread and see The King’s Speech and work on our printing projects. Maybe take some photos of him for his teaching applications. One of which requires a photo of him in his “teaching attire”. I told him that I would gladly take some photos for him. Maybe put an American flag in the background. Maybe a Bald Eagle crying, too. Freedom.
Anyways, I had better get this party started. More soon. ~SC
