The Forced Read Stopping.
0March 7, 2011 by sandwichcontrol
It is the first, and probably last, time in my life when I have to force myself to stop reading. It is not so much that I am totally enthralled by the Harry Potter books, but I am to a certain degree, it is more that I really don’t want to have any other responsibilities other than reading right now. Our trip to Cancun spoiled me. All of that lying around and reading with nothing else I had to do. It was like a taste of Heaven. And then I was forced back into the Hell of having to do stuff.
I think all of this stems from a general burned-out-ness that is blanketing my universe right now. I think it came about because of several moments of disillusionment that I’ve had recently. The first being my realization that I, in fact, do not have only a handful of classes left before I graduate, but, in reality, have at least twenty more. Another similar moment was when I realized that my Advanced Letterpress class would be focusing heavily on digital typesetting. Then the whole income tax thing. I’m telling you, I’m dangerously close to packing up my shit and heading off into the unknown to bake cookies and read Harry Potter in peace.
“What about Pancake Land?” You may be asking. Well, she has had the jones to go for as long as I have known her. That’s why we have been taking these random trips lately. To satiate her urge to rove and wander. Nomad? Vagabond? Call us what you will. Oh, okay. I won’t tease you with it and not deliver. I’m not a stripper after all.
Well, that made me feel better.
It also comes as a comfort to me that, since I have decided for the moment to continue on in my attempt to get my Bachelor’s degree, I have already made my choices for Summer and Fall classes. And guess what they are offering in the Fall. Go on, guess. Give up? Okay, I’ll tell you. Ornithology. I’m going to try and take it, but we’ll see if I can get in there. I imagine there is going to be some serious competition to get in the class seeing as how Dr. K doesn’t teach it that often. Wish me luck.
Well, I should probably go to work and stop reading Order of the Phoenix. Have a wonderful Monday. More soon. ~SC
