Call Me Iceman.

First thing today, I would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Steenie. Be sure to come by and celebrate with us tonight at Dave and Little Miss Cotton’s house!
So, yesterday was a very good day. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, it has been a long time since I have said that. Things have been a little rough lately and I finally had an entire day of good stuff happen again and I am keen to tell you all about it.
My day started out with me waking up feeling like I actually slept the whole night through. I wouldn’t say that I was totally rested, but I was close. Then I made coffee and ate the last two English muffins with the last of the strawberry jam. I managed to cut my thumb while I was sawing the muffins in half for toasting, but that was pretty much the low point in my day. It was all up from there.
I went to work and discovered that my efficiency earlier in the week and all that Taco Planet is doing around the studio these days had left me with very little to do. So I shipped some packages, ran some errands, and made a few notes of stuff to do on Monday. While I was running errands, the mail ran at the ranch. Guess what was waiting for me when I got back. Give up? Perhaps it was this European first edition Tom Waits chapbook:
My dear friend, Amy the Amazing, procured a copy for me for my birthday. Isn’t she the sweetest? I’m betting you wish you had friends like I’ve got friends. Well, after I finished doing the “I’ve Got Cooler Stuff Than You” dance, I proceeded to wrap up my duties for the day and headed home around 2pm. What, you mean I get off early on this incredibly beautiful Spring day? Yes.
So, instead of doing something outside, I immediately hit the love seat with Year 7. I’ve made it about half way at this point. Anyway, Back Alley Trey calls at some point and requests a copy of my world-famous Barrio Burritos recipe. Why, may I ask? Oh, he has to give a presentation for his Spanish class on cooking something Hispanic. I told him that I doubt my recipe qualifies as “Hispanic” but he can give it a try. When he came over to get the recipe, I trapped his ass (face) in ice:
After that, I made plans to go run errands with Teacher Sis around 7pm. I then made plans for this morning to get a haircut and have lunch with Word to Me. After all of this plan making, I settled back to read for a few hours before I had to go do anything. Then I remembered that I forgot to go to the bank to deposit a few checks, so I went to do that. Money is cool. I like money. These checks allowed me to pay my rent. Hooray for paying my rent! That tax thing wiped me out and I’m working on getting back to a place of comfort financially.
Finally, around 7 Teacher Sis, Prop Ninja, and her friend, Ichigo, all showed up. Guess who got trapped in ice. They did:
Before we left the house, I remembered that I needed to register for my Summer and Fall classes. So, I did that and I managed to get into all three. Sweet! Then it was off to use some rewards certificates that Pancake Land and I have had on the fridge for a while. I got some clearance Skullcandy, dry erase markers, and a binder at Der Staples. I got some Metal at the Death Star. I got a hanging veggie basket, a clearance insulated cookie sheet, an onion keeper, and P.L. some lip balm at B-Cubed. Then off to Le Target to get some fancy mixed nuts and try on children’s super hero masks:
They didn’t have an Iceman mask or I definitely would have tried it on. After all of that fun, I returned home, took a shower, ate a quesadilla, and headed for bed. I didn’t even wake up when P.L. called or came home. I was out. I got up leisurely this morning, ate some cookies, and here I sit, drinking coffee and typing at you. It has been a good 24 hours.
Well, I’ve got to go get ready for my haircut. I hope all of you have as good of a day as I did. More soon. ~SC
