The Ghost Of Bill Wither’s Drummer (Not Dead).

When I was putting up the Daily Photo yesterday, I noticed that we just rounded the 100 mark. We’re not a hundred days in, quite yet, but we are a hundred photos in.

Speaking of having way too much time on your hands, La Duchess sent me this video of some Japanese people with way too much time, and knowledge of physics, on their hands. Enjoy:

I told you. Speaking of Lippincottonia, guess what I found waiting on me a work yesterday. You’ll never guess. So, I get to work and set my bag down on the couch, like usual, when I notice something sitting on the other end of couch. I couldn’t really make out what it was because I still had my sunglasses on and it was dark in the house. So, I go about switching glasses and move in a little closer to see what this things is. Keep in mind that the Royal Dogs have little stuffed animals that they chew up on the couch and from time to time, they rifle through the garbage and devour their new found bounty on the couch. So, I’m inching my way toward this thing in slow motion and an image and the meaning of that image starts to slowly form in my mind. Then I managed to put all of the pieces together and stood back to look at it. Oh, holy shit! That is the uneaten back half of a rabbit! That’s right, the back legs, tail, and spine of a rabbit were just hanging out on the couch, waiting for me to come to work. After the shock wore off, I took great joy in informing Le Duke of the gift that his dogs left him. In further reflection, it dawned on me that the front half of that rabbit was probably somewhere else in the house in the form of poo. So it goes.

As my reward for breaking this news to him first thing in the morning, I got the pleasure of unloading 44 cases of bamboo flooring into the new house. Then I unpacked half of the boxes so that the boards can “rest”. I’ll probably start laying floor on Monday. Good times.

So, Pancake Land and I were digging through videos on YouTube and somehow we managed to make our way to the Playing for Change page. You know, the guy who recorded street musicians playing “Stand by Me” and then used it to raise money for building schools in third world countries or something. Anyways, we start watching their version of “Imagine” and about a minute in, Pancake Land flips her shit. She tells me to back up the video because the drummer is haunting her. She thinks that the drummer is the same guy from the old Bill Withers videos. Bill Withers’s drummer from back in the day, has managed to ruin most of the old lovable Bill Withers tunes for her. You’ll see why in a minute.

So, it turns out that it’s the same guy. His name is James Gadson. And everything that Pancake Land does these days, somehow involves this guy. He just keeps showing up. She first noticed him when we watched Still Bill the documentary about Bill Withers. Since then he keeps just randomly popping into her life. You might be saying “What’s the big deal?” Here watch this video and keep an eye on the drummer.

See? He has just changed the way you think about that song forever. Just be glad he’s not haunting you. That’s all I’m saying. Well, I guess I should go to school. Have a good one. More soon. ~SC

Also I was a lot happier about that xylophone in the woods, until I learned it was just another fucking advertisement.
