Well, it’s May. The month greeted me with insomnia and a thunderstorm. So far, May is a jerk. April, on the other hand went out with a bang. Or rather, a boil. Last night was the annual crawfish boil over at the Parents Chulius’s house. In preparation for this, I made a sun-dried tomato and basil pesto torta. That is just a fancy name of a party dip apparently. It does not, unfortunately, have anything to do with the Mexican sandwiches. Regardless, it was delicious and a lot of fun to make. That is, if you like using the food processor a lot.

Anyways, I just Google searched for sun-dried tomato and basil pesto torta, and the the first thing that came up was the recipe that I received in a cooking class a few years back. I guess my teacher found it on Epicurious. Whatever. If you would like to try it out, click here: Whip Until Fluffy. I substituted toasted walnut for pine nuts because pine nuts are stupid expensive. I would also recommend going ahead and using 24oz. (3 blocks) of cream cheese and two whole sticks of butter. I found that I was a little short on my cream cheese butter mixture and it is better to have too much than too little.

On a slightly more ridiculous note, apparently some men are shaving their beard into a monkey tail shape. It is this new trend or something. I can’t really wrap my head around it this morning. La Duchess sent me a thing about them, so I’ll send you there as well and you can figure it out for yourself. Enjoy the insanity.

Also, a few people have sent this to me recently, with a quips about competition or expansion of my influence or something and I figured I had better post it in order to curb the  flow before it wipes out my house.

So, I just got a call for Operation K informing me that he is on way over for some last minute tutoring before his Algebra final tomorrow. What’s better than reviewing polynomials first thing in the morning? Maybe trapping people in ice. I got Mellie Mel last night.
