Distances Given In Unknown Units Are Maddeningly Useless.

Happy June everybody. Before we get into the Physics stuff, let’s talk about everything else that went on yesterday. Yesterday marked the end of the snack phone being a part of my life. The experiment ended Monday night and I shipped the phone back yesterday. $35 here I come. I also laid yet more bamboo flooring. I’ve got about 12 more rows to lay in the mother-in-law suite’s bedroom and about 7 long rows to lay in the sun room upstairs. Then I will be done with flooring for a while and I can focus on making pots again. That and learning Physics. One more note about yesterday before we slide over to Science, I think I hurt my hand again. If I were to put money on it, I would guess it is from the hammering that I do to the flooring. Whatever I did, my hand hurts. I guess I should make an appointment to see Dr. T and let her beat the crap out of me. Now is time for Science.
First off, my textbook might just be the most brilliantly written piece of literature of all time. Not because it is fun to read or anything, but because it is just littered with quotable stuff. Things like the title of today’s post are commonplace for this book. Some of my other favorite phrases so far are something about “a beautiful display of one-dimension motion” and “a vast of ocean of discoveries”. This book was worth every penny. In addition to the highlighting, circling of important objects, the handwritten asides, and now the quotes, I found this in the book last night while I was reading:
For $200 I not only bought a beat up old textbook, I apparently bought the camaraderie of all previous Physics students. Awesome. On the other hand, I now see that my Physics class is going to be a very difficult rite of passage. The thing that I must do to enter into Scientist-hood. And it is going to be very, very rough. My professor talks fast, writes fast, and likes to dish out little jabs to the students to keep us on our toes. Asshole, some might call him. I can’t help but like him.
Lab on the other hand is going to be a cake walk by comparison. My lab professor is awesome. And since we will be applying the things we are learning in lecture, it will be no problem. Well, the time has come to face the music and hope that I don’t get reamed to badly for not reading all of chapters one and two last night. Wish me luck. More soon. ~SC

I predict that you will find at least two theories/concepts that will be added to your list of possible band names throughout this class. Physics is the poetry of science. Enjoy!
