Sir Francis Bacon.

Last night I had a moment of disgrace as a student scientist. I forgot who Sir Francis Bacon was. It would be like forgetting who Carolus Linnaeus or Charles Darwin are. It was shameful. I’m sure you are wondering how Sir Frances Bacon came up in conversation. I’ll get to that in a minute. I have to start from the beginning of yesterday in order to set the stage properly.

After I made my post, I waited around for Word to Me to call me and set up a lunch date. The call never came, or so I thought. I apparently missed the call. An hour and a half after she called, I finally called her to be like “Why haven’t you called me? I’m starving to death.” And I saw that she had called and hour and a half earlier. Oops. Stupid cell phones. By the time I called her, she had given up and eaten lunch. Teacher Sis was right in the middle of some grad work and couldn’t stop right then, so my lunch plans disintegrated and I just wandered around the house snacking on whatever I could get my hands on. Fritos and bean dip? Don’t mind if I do. Three slices of deliciously expensive Havarti? Sure. Honey roasted peanuts for dessert? By all means.

I wasn’t just wandering around the house, I was generally lost in the universe yesterday. So was Pancake Land. We had had a rough week and were both mentally and emotionally drained. I seized every opportunity to do something that made me feel like a normal human being again. I went and bought Pancake Land a new lighter. I washed the truck. I spent an hour talking Pancake Land into letting me give her an (asexual) body massage. Then I spent an hour giving her the massage. We were lost yesterday.

Since I had royally jammed my dick into the normal weekend routine, I decided that I was going to do it right by making the menu and grocery shopping last night. I figured I would need to go eat somewhere today and I was just lying around last night in no condition to do Physics homework. Rather than be overwhelmed by all the crap I need to do today, I did some of it last night.

When I returned from grocery shopping, Pancake Land was playing Red Dead. She was working on getting all of her trophies. Whatever that means. I think it is akin to catching all of the bugs in Twilight Princess, but I can’t be sure. Anyways, I retreated back to my office to work on a project that I had given myself. I was retiring my old Q hat and creating a new one. The problem was that I couldn’t find a new Q, so I had to remove the old one from the old hat and then sew it onto the new hat. It was a time consuming which was all that mattered yesterday. Anyway, I finished the hat and went to show it to Pancake Land. She was typing a message to Little Peddler and that is when I noticed her status.

me: “What is ‘France is Bacon’?”

PL: “Oh, it is an old Reddit joke.”

me: “What’s the joke?”

This is where Pancake Land looked up the joke and showed it to me. I understood the joke, but:

me: “Wait, who’s Francis Bacon? Why does that sound so familiar to me?”

PL: (looking it up) “Ooh… he’s the father of the scientific method. How could you forget that?”

Shame.

Yesterday was rough. Nothing really bad happened or anything, but we were in a funk. Sort of a “bad shit is gonna happen at any second” kind of funk. We even went to see G-man at the hospital and that made us feel better. That’s how bad of shape we were in, when going to the hospital made us feel better. G-man, despite having cancer, pneumonia, and now three blood clots, is doing much better. He seems to be in good spirits and looks much better.

To appease Dave ala his comment yesterday, click here for some really artsie film work: Relume.

Also, to slightly redeem myself in the eyes of my nerd brethren:

Okay, so I am going to go try and be a productive member of Holliday Island. Screw the rest of society. Biscuits and gravy (and Newtonian Physics) here I come! More soon. ~SC
