The Saw Mill.

Good morning all. It is 7am in Memphis. I am up and awake and the royal family is still sawing logs. They literally sound like a saw mill. With a random busted whoopee cushion thrown in occasionally for good measure.
Yesterday was the last day of the show. Normally last days of shows go until like 3 or 4pm and then end early to allow the vendors a little extra break down time. Not Pink Palace. We got out at 5 instead of 6pm but we barely beat the coming darkness. If it had just been Le Duke, he wouldn’t have made it before dark. That said, we had a good show and a good break down and made it back to the hotel before 7pm. Leaving us just enough time to clean up a little before heading off to eat delicious Asian food. But more on that in a second. Back to the cleaning up. My feet were totally gross. Even grosser than normal. There was so much dust at the park that when you combined the wind and the crafters driving their big van and SUVs around, it was a total dust storm. My feet were so bad, that I had to documented them. Enjoy:
Like I said earlier we ate a delicious Asian dinner. We ate at Wang’s. It is a combo Mandarin Chinese restaurant and Sushi Bar. The Chinese food was excellent, but it paled in comparison to the sushi we got. The old Japanese man behind the bar was very excited that we got eel. So excited in fact that he came out to talk to us about it. Somewhere along the way he talked me into trying ocean eel. Up that point I had only ever eaten freshwater eel sushi. Ocean eel is the bomb in Phantoms, yo. You actually get more of an eel flavor than with the freshwater. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that they don’t drown the thing in Teriyaki like they do with freshwater eel. Whatever the case, it was delicious and melted in my mouth.
After gorging on delicious fish bits, it was back to the hotel to pack up my shit and pass out for the night. I had weird dreams. In fact, I had the exact same dreams that I had the night before. There is some sort of party and everybody wants to dance with this one girl so they have to put their name in the hat to try and get a chance to dance with her. I’m the one with the hat so I am in charge of picking a name, but all the guys are total scumbags and not worthy of dancing with her. Then she and I play a board game that involves taking turns rolling dice and something about whoever runs out of cards first wins. The dream was very tense.
Needless to say that it has got me all funked up this morning. Whatever. The road will clear my head. We’re heading back in a few hours. That’ll give me enough time to take a shower, pets my cats, eat somewhere on assignment, write an article, and maybe take a nap in my new hammock before we head off for the next show. Okay, I’m exaggerating a little, but still that’s what it feels like. I’ll actually have all day off tomorrow. Then we head off for the next show. Not kidding about that. Anyways, time to pack up the lappy. Wish us good road doogies. More soon. ~SC
