Stupid Daikinis.

I hadn’t intended on starting the post with something like this, but life happens. As I was making my breakfast this morning, a voice came out of the radio that made me so happy. It was James Oseland explaining how to roast a perfect turkey. I’ll have audio up for it around 11am because the sound file doesn’t become available at NPR’s website until noon their time.

*Update* Click here to listen to the James Oseland story.

It’s the small things that make me happy.

Like unexpectedly getting a Sam’s Club card. Sometimes I marvel at how the dominoes of our lives fall. Teacher Sis’s purse got stolen. Her Sam’s card was in it. She needed to buy groceries. She went to the customer service desk at Sam’s to get a new card. They up-sold her an Advantage membership by giving her gift cards and huge discounts on stuff she was already going to buy. The Advantage membership came with an extra card. Guess who was standing next to her. Me. And just like that, I’ve got a Sam’s card. Pixelated black & white photo and all.

After Sam’s we headed to have lunch with Word to Me for her birthday. After lunch we headed to Le Target by way of Hawg Head Comics so that Teacher Sis could passive-aggressively punish Prop Ninja for not taking Bubba Fett with her and Zab’z when they went out to play. At Le Target, I finally broke down and bought another flannel. It broke my heart a little to spend $22 bucks on a shirt that I am about to destroy, but as I’ve stated already, James Oseland repaired the breaks by saying the word “turducken” a couple of times. One thing that Teacher Sis and I found at Target City was an item that will make all of you 80’s kids drool. They’ve rereleased the Garbage Pail Kids cards. This round they are all sticker cards, so that you can stick them on your Trapper Keeper right next to your Lisa Frank unicorns.

Yeah. So anyways, you get a double pack of cards and a mini poster (see yesterday’s Daily Photo for an example) for 5 bucks. Wait, there’s an image appearing in my crystal ball. I see a bunch of 30 somethings running frantically in Target. They are heading to the toy department and stopping at an end cap that is covered with collector’s cards.

This is what I’m truly excited about when it comes to the rerelease of the cards though:

I actually got the Adam Bomb card! I would scan it and show it to you, but I’m feeling pretty lazy this morning. Just know that my collection has begun again. Mwhahahaha…

Well, that’s all I’ve got for you today. I’m going to go weigh the decision between writing this week’s article and lying in my hammock. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. More soon. ~SC
