The Price Of Progress.

Mornin’ all. I slept a little better last night. Of course I just remembered that I got up around 1am to get a drink of water and use the bathroom. I seem to recall walking around the house. Strange.
I would like to start out this post by wishing a great big congrats to Farmers J & N on the birth of their baby. I haven’t heard whether it is a boy or a girl yet, but I’m sure it won’t be hard to find out. Anyways, congrats and good luck to you three!
Yesterday was a very productive day despite my foggy brain. I had made some architectural clay on Monday and yesterday I started making more theater blocks out of it. We have been having serious cracking issues with the last few blocks, so we’re taking a different approach this time. Normally, a little cracking wouldn’t be that big of a deal. It happens. But these are big cracks. Scary ones. And they render the blocks unusable. And when it takes you upwards of an hour to make one block, a cracked block that is no longer usable sucks ass. So, we’ve hit it with a remix. Cross your fingers that this works out better.
Block making took me a couple of hours. Then, Zaxxon and I went hunting for a suit for him, to no avail. After that I came home and set about working on the many things I’m working on right now. I finally wrote this week’s article. Hooray! After that I started working on podcast stuff. What started out as a fun idea for me and Zaxxon to sit around and chat has quickly become something much greater. To use the parlance of our times, shit just got real.
It quickly became apparent that if we were going to do this podcast thing right, then we were going to need to do a lot more than sit around and talk. Dave volunteered to do a little editing and throw some background music in for us. That involved him getting and learning to use new software. We’re also in need of a logo for the podcast which Dave has also agreed to make. Furious Jessy has been a very patient saint in answering all of my questions about this thing called innernet. And then there’s equipment. If we don’t want to sound like we are sitting inside of a tin can, we’re going to need a better mic and some headphones to monitor ourselves. You see how quickly things escalate?
I’m not bitching, I promise. I’m very excited about this podcast business. It is something I’ve been wanting to do for years and I’ve decided to do it right. Not half-assed like I do most everything else.
Oh, I almost forgot! When I got home yesterday, I had a presnent waiting for me. I fucking L-O-O-O-O-V-E presnents! My friends at Terra Cottage had agreed to make me a couple of coffee cups in exchange for a couple of plates and I got my cups yesterday. Wanna see them? Okay:
I had originally asked for one and they told me that they’d have to make two. Fine by me. The more the merrier. (insert sound of my coffee cup cabinet groaning) I gave them total artistic license and these are the results. Pretty badass if you ask me. In other exciting Terra Cottage news, their work is now available on the Uncommon Goods website. Please check them out here and here. Pretty cool, huh? It is sort of strange to know someone whose works is in the Uncommon Goods catalog.
Anywho, today is a day of fine tuning the gallery for the Home Show this weekend. It is also a day of doing cooking prep for tomorrow and maybe a little cooking today. We’ll see. Well, I’ve got to hit the road. Have a great day. More soon. ~SC
