Hello friends. It is Friday once again. That means my new article is up on the City Wire. If you’d like to read it, click here… or not. If you wouldn’t care to read it, because it is not up yet, click here: A Braver Man Than I. The new article should be up later today. I’ll probably post it tomorrow if I remember.
Yesterday was a bit more hectic and exhausting than I had anticipated. It started with a quick bank run for Jesus. That went relatively smoothly. Then it was off to the letterpress shop for four hours of frustrating printing on our ’23 C&P platen press. Give me a Vandercook any day. One more hour of cutting book board at the letterpress shop and then it was off to Lippincottonia where I moved a refrigerator and found missing sofa cushions. I also had a terrible cup of fake coffee that was so bad I couldn’t even drink it. Energy waning, I tried to move my humungous painting back to my house in the van. It is so big that it wouldn’t fit into the van.
How did I move it before? Oh, yeah. I still had a pick up truck when I painted that. I guess I lugged it around in my old Ford to and from the various venues that I showed that painting at. Unfortunately, the only person that I know of that has a pickup these days is Pancake Land and the last thing she needs right now is for one more person to need something from her. So asking her for her truck is out. My only other option is to dismantle part of the painting to transport it. Or, to buy a new truck. I guess I have two options.
After giving up on the idea of moving the painting yesterday, I came home a bit defeated and ate a dinner of breadsticks and put together my new toy. After packing up P.L.’s stuff for her last week, my living room is, how shall I put this, empty. I have two vintage yellow chairs that I’ve put in there, you know, for “guests”. Still the room is rather empty. Plenty of room for me to have fun. So, I ordered myself a hammock stand. I found it waiting for me when I returned home yesterday, so I ate my starchy dinner, and I set about putting it together. Flim, flam, fandangle! And it was assembled and ready for me to give it a test drive. Insert problem.
My hammock is about four inches too short for it. Luckily, I had moved P.L.’s and White Chocolate kayaks in out of the rain, so I borrowed a carabiner from one of them for the time being. I need to pick up a bit of chain or some more carabiners this weekend for a more permanent fix. I also need to pick up a couple of small tables, one for the chairs and one for the hammock, and a lamp for each table. Perhaps a radio that plays ocean sounds is in order as well. Then my relaxation station aka the “Hammock Oasis” will be up and running. Maybe a hammock pillow as well. Hmm.
I wiled away about an hour in the hammock listening to “Goblet” before deciding that if I didn’t get up and work on my food micro exam I was going to fall asleep. 45 grueling minutes of research and a blinding headache later, I was back in the hammock. I think I deserve a little rest. Don’t you?
I was going to take my Daily Photo in the hammock, but decided to wait until I get the station finished before unveiling it to the world. Possibly with a giant painting behind it.
Today is another long day. I’ve got to make a theater block and more than likely more mugs. I still have 95ish left to go. For those of you who do not know, Little Miss Cotton is dancing tomorrow night in Hot Springs. I highly suggest that you go and support her. I, on the other hand, have a S.A.N.D. meeting tomorrow night.
Enjoy your weekend. More soon. ~SC
