Like An Inchworm.

Yesterday was day of creeping slowly along in many tasks. I made 15 more mugs, bringing my total count up to 360 of 400 mugs. I finished one of the big questions on my food microbiology exam bringing my total completed up to 7 of 8 questions. And I unmolded and cleaned up another theater block bringing my total up to God only knows how many of 14ish.

At some point I went to the letterpress press shop and did odd jobs for a while. Then Star Noble, the other let-press assistant, and I decided to print valentines for everyone in the class. It was something to do that made us look busy and subsequently used up a pile of paper that’s been taking up drawer space for ages. Plus, we got to make this sparkly pink ink to use. Who doesn’t love using sparkly pink ink? The effect once it hit the wood type was awesome. It was like neapolitan ice cream. The wooden furniture was the chocolate, the shiny quoins were the vanilla, and the ink was the strawberry. The photos I got doesn’t do it justice, but whatever. It was a bit of fun after weeks of doing loads of work. Peep it:

Type on Bed.

And just so know what the finished prints look like:

Type and Proof.

Overall, yesterday was quite productive. Today is going to be another long day. I’ve got studio work this morning. Tutoring this afternoon. More food microbiology exam stuff, a geography map, and article proofing stuff this evening.  It is going to be a very long day.

But like Tsunetomo once said, if you say the four vows every morning before the Buddhas, you’ll have the strength of two men and never move backward. Instead, you’ll move ahead, bit by bit, like an inchworm. That’s so very Metal.

I’m off to it. More soon. ~SC
