This Looks Like A Job For Flowery Pink Umbrella.

I would like to start out today’s post by wishing a very Happy Birthday to La Duchess. It seems like only 10 years ago that she was turning 60. Time flies when you’re making mugs.

My meeting over coffee yesterday went very well. I don’t want to say too much about it yet for fear of jinxing it or lawsuit or something. Just know that it involves keys, overwhelming creative freedom, and possibly, a fireman’s pole.

After my meeting, I returned to Lippincottonia to start the unloading of the gas kiln. Upon opening it, I discovered that one of the posts that holds the shelves up, about halfway up in the stack, had disintegrated during the firing. What normally would have followed would have been this domino effect of falling kiln shelves in a downward direction culminating in a giant pile of broken pots and shelves that had all been fused together with glaze. What I found was that one of my humble little tumblers that I made for Adair Ya had caught the stack and kept it from totally collapsing. Who is the bomb mug maker? Me.

After emptying the kiln, I went to take some measurements for my top secret job project and became totally overwhelmed. Then back to the ranch for some fishing. By that I mean that I called all of my galleries and tried to get them to place orders. No dice. Then it was home to wait for my student who, once again, forgot about his lesson. We’ve got to get back on the Monday schedule. Then a brief meeting with Teacher Sis and Furious Jessy. Then Taco Mayo and GPK cards. I found GPK magnets, too. Then home and bedtime.

Today is another helluva day. First thing is a trip to the bank for Jesus. Then grinding the pots from the kiln. Then, Letterpress stuff. Then more studio stuff. Then taxes. At some point there will be drawing stuff on graph paper. Overwhelmed, yet? I know I am.

The road is calling. More soon. ~SC
