A Dude In Waiting.

Yesterday was exhausting. Not because I did so much, but because I did so little. I had all of these plans for the day, and at some point, they all fell apart. I got to the studio and busted ass getting stuff done because my afternoon was filling up fast. And then my meeting got bumped back a few hours. Then it got moved to Wednesday. Then tutoring got canceled. So, I had done all of the stuff I needed to do and could only twiddle my thumbs until my class started at 5:25pm.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Waiting around is probably the most exhausting thing I do.

It’s cool, though. I managed to read a little bit before class. Reading is good, right? I like reading. And I ate a lot of cookies yesterday. Cookies are good, right? I like cookies. But for the most part I sat around. So, keeping my eyes open in food microbiology was very difficult.

Once we started smearing E. coli on chunks of meat, though, I was wide awake. Not only for the fear of somehow getting a dollop of pathogenic microbes into my mouth, but also because there was fun science to do. We started our first round of experiments last night. We were testing whether or not steam pasteurization kills E. coli on beef. Pretty straight forward. You see, we are in the part of the class where we come up with questions, figure out experiments to run in order to find the answer to those questions, and then run the experiments. It’s real science. So, needless to say, I’m in hog heaven. Now, I just need to come up with a question that can only be answered by having to make cheese. Any ideas?

Today is a bit more straight forward of a day. I’m going to the letterpress shop this morning. Apparently, my plate came in for my business card. Now I can print them whenever I want. As many as I want. Mwhahahaha…

After helping the newbies print their cards, I’m back off to the studio to call galleries and look at stuff and think about stuff. Stuff that is not nearly as tiring as sitting around waiting for stuff.

Well, I’m off to get dirty. More soon. ~SC
