Oh, Batman, What Have I Done?!

Do you ever have one of those weeks when you spend a lot of money and then a few days later realize the gravity of your actions? No? Me neither.
Yesterday, I went to the bank first thing and changed a crap load of money into Japanese Yen. You know, for the trip. It turns out that I’ll be lucky to catch my bus to Ota once I clear customs at the Narita airport, so I wanted to be sure to have my money exchanged before hand. Save me a little time. I guess perhaps it hasn’t really sunk in yet. This whole going to Japan thing. I mean, sure I’ve bought my ticket, and sure come Monday I’ll have something like 90,000 Yen, but it all seems so far fetched that I can’t really believe it’s happening.
You probably couldn’t believe it either if your instructions upon arriving in a foreign country that is well known for speaking its own language and not English were: make a left out of customs, buy a bus ticket, borrow the guy at the counter’s cell phone and call your friend to let him know when you’ll be arriving in his town. It almost seems like a practical joke or something.
I mentioned that I went to bank first thing yesterday, but that’s not exactly true. First thing yesterday I was trying to make coffee and simultaneously make a sausage and egg bagel when I blew a fuse in my fuse box. This shut down half of my house. Awesome. So, I took a fuse from another spot in the box that seemed like it was just hanging out anyway and screwed it into the burnt out fuse’s spot. Why not just put a new fuse in? You may be wondering. Well, I would have had extra fuses if the heater repairman hadn’t stolen them when he was trying to fix my busted heater problem.
So, after the bank, I went by the hardware store to pick up more fuses. Then, I snagged Little Miss Cotton on the way to Lippincottonia for work. Then we worked all day. Sort of. After work, Zaxxon and I sat down to watch The Bridesmaids at my house. We had intended on getting the projector working so we didn’t have to huddle around my computer and make the scene any gayer, but the projector wouldn’t cooperate. So, we snuggled. We were going to record a podcast afterwards, but the movie was a bit too intense to find the words, so we’ll hold off on that a few days. Maybe by Sunday we’ll have digested it enough to talk about it. Not that it was bad or anything. In fact, it was excellent. But a bit intense. It was like if you combined Meet the Parents with Hudsucker Proxy and Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants with a dash of 27 Dresses and The Hangover. Like I said, a bit heavy to digest in a few minutes after the film ended. Long and short of it, you should watch it.
Today is a day of getting shit done. Teacher Sis and I are grocery shopping. Hopefully I won’t buy any more books that I won’t have time to read until I’m 164 years old. And probably a lunch on assignment. Maybe some Staples and Target clearance runs for good measure.
Oh, I bet that’s her calling me right now. Well, I hope you have splendid weekend. More soon. ~SC
