It’s Days Like These…

that make me wish I had a car.

I woke up this morning to darkness. So, I looked at my watch to see what god-forsaken time it was. It was not in fact 3 in the morning, but time to get up. Damn. So why is it so dark outside? Then I heard the thunder. Greeeeaaaaat. Looks like it’ll a long, hot, wet one today.

Yesterday, I woke up with a sense of accomplishment. Like I was making headway with this school business. Then I got an email informing me that the architect was “too busy” to “deal with” the school project. And with that, he quit. So, no architect. Balloon of accomplishment deflated. Luckily, my general contractor and my draftsman stepped up and said they’d handle this problem. They are currently hunting me a new architect. For those of you who are wondering why not having an architect is a big deal, I’ll break it down for you. No architect, no building plans. No building plans, no building permit. No building permit, no construction. No construction, no lab. No lab, no students. No students, no school. No school, no idea what I’m doing with my life anymore.

Okay, maybe not that dire since I still can bake cookies and photograph myself, but you get the idea.

So, yesterday quickly became a day of very loud metal. And tile glazing. One of the projects I’m trying to finish in Lippincottonia is the tile floor in the new kitchen. Little Miss Cotton and I made the tile for the floor, but it has been sitting on a shelf for weeks now, just waiting to be glazed. So, yesterday I started glazing it.

That brings us back to the present. Today I’ll be working in Lippincottonia. Probably on tile glazing. I’ll be dealing with school stuff intermittently as well. Then I’ve got article stuff tonight. And I should probably start working on my final exam for food micro. Jeez. It is going to be a long day. I guess I’d better roll up my pant legs and get to it. More soon. ~SC

Today is my last teaching day (for the semester). I am sad. You better find a need for an accounting seminar at The Lab so I can teach again. Pretty please.

Hang in there Big Cheese! The new Architect – Rett – seemed excited about the project and meeting us tomorrow! He also said he recently completed a similar job in like three weeks total, including acquiring the building permit. So thinks are looking up!
