The Chicken Stocks At Midnight.

I spent the majority of yesterday in my kitchen. I’ve been feeling like a space cadet since before I went to Houston nearly three weeks ago, so I thought that cooking all day would ground me a little. I made chili, spaghetti sauce, chicken stock, and lemon bars. Did it ground me? Yeah, a little. Did it make me spend a lot of my time washing dishes. Yes. I had to run the dishwasher twice yesterday.

After the cook-a-thon, I went over to Dave/Little Miss Cotton’s house with Zaxxon to watch a movie. We watched God Bless America which is the new film written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait. Get ready for spoilers. If you haven’t seen or heard anything about this film, you’re about to. It is probably the most brutally true satire that I’ve ever seen. And it’s really funny in that “everybody is going to die” kind of way. I have to admire Bobcat for this movie. He managed to make the film that I’ve wanted to make forever. It even has the scene in the movie theater where the protagonist guns down some annoying people who talk on their cell phones during the feature while happy Judy Garland-esque music swells in the background. Brilliant. Anyway, here’s the trailer so you don’t have to take my word for it. Oh, and it is definitely not work safe:

Yeah. If you want it, I’ve got it. Just ask. And thank Dave for the hookup.

After the movie, I came home and divided up my chicken stock into smaller containers. A word to the wise, chicken stock stays hot forever. It was midnight before I managed to get it all divided and not burn the crap out of myself.

And of course, I got up this morning to discover that 3 of my bags of stock had burst in the freezer. Awesome. I’ve cleaned it up off of the floor, but I’ll deal with the chicken stock coating on the inside of the freezer later. Right now I’ve got to go to work. Happy Monday. More soon. ~SC
