I’ma stick my dick in the mashed potatoes.
Anybody who knows me, knows this post was coming. I first heard the Beastie Boys in 8th grade. Shamrock made me a mix tape of the B-Boys and from then on, it was on and on ’til the breaka breaka dawn. We lived and breathed Beastie Boys for quite a while. Hell, even my brother acquired his nickname from a reference made in Beastie Boys song. (“And on the mic I bug like I was Prince Jazzbo.” from B-Boys Makin’ With the Freak Freak on Ill Communication, 1994)
As most of you know by now, MCA died yesterday after battling with cancer for a few years. Fuck cancer. That’s all I’m saying. It sucks to lose one of your heroes. Oh…fuck it. I had planned on writing more about this, but I just can’t. It’s too… whatever. There’s so much good stuff going on that I want to talk about rather than spending my time blowing my nose and typing through a wall of tears. I’ll just say that heart goes out to Adrock and Mike D. and we’ll leave it at that.
On to a happier note. Last night we saw The Avengers. Let’s just put it this way, Joss Whedon deserves his paycheck. After the movie the Rev. Dark Wombat joined Zaxxon and myself for an episode of Date Night. That’s three in the can and ready to go. I promise to get one up on here as soon as humanly possible. We’ve just run into a few snags that will hopefully turn out to be awesome, so…
Today is the first Saturday in a while that I don’t have to eat on assignment. I already have my article for next week done, so I can actually eat somewhere for fun this morning. Why this morning and not the normal lunch? Because I have to stretch my stomach out in preparation for the main event. Tonight is the annual crawfish boil. But there are many miles to go before the feast. I’ve got a few errands to run and a cake to bake. A cake made of pure awesomeness.
Okay, so I’m going to go throw on my Beastie Boys shirt and get this caravan a rollin’. I’d like to give a shout out to my dad and mom, for bringing me into this world and so on. More soon. ~SC
