You’d Trust A Sandwich From A Baby Ape’s Backpack?

Hey suckers. Happy Mother’s Day. I am simultaneously the world’s best son and biggest idiot. I didn’t get to bed until about 4am because of various activities, and then I work up at 9am so that I could get ready and go to church with Word to Me because that is what she wants for Mother’s Day. I’m the sucker.
So, why did I stay up so late? Well, the majority of the reason was because we played Pathfinder until nearly 3am. Time flies when you are punching clockwork doppelgangers. We ended up getting over four hours of podcast recorded last night. It was a really good night. We rocked the shit out of our campaign. Were my fists ready? Damn straight they were. We were so into the game that I completely failed to take my Daily Photo of us playing, which I had intended on doing. Luckily, I had been playing with Percolator (a kickass photo application) earlier in the day. Play time for the save.
In other exciting news, after I got back from Japan, I hunted all around for a cookbook that teaches you how to make ramen from scratch. Noodles, broth, dashi, the whole nine. I came up with zilch. Then one day in the middle of last month I had this brilliant idea. Who knows a lot about ramen? So much so that they released an entire issue of a magazine about it? That would be Lucky Peach. So, I decided to shoot them an email and politely beg them to make a ramen cookbook. And then I shot them the email. Nearly a month has passed with no response. I just chalked it up to the normal reason of my email being lost in the flood of fan/hate emails. No biggie. I’ve been ignored many a times in my attempts to contact people who I think are awesome. It’s funny how the people who are not awesome because they are terrifying and crazy will always write you back. Like that time I wrote a letter to Ted Kaczynski. (Not for any malicious or dubious reasons, but because “This Book Will Change Your Life” told me to.) He wrote me back. It was scary. But, I had stopped expecting a response from Lucky Peach. I wasn’t hurt or anything. They’re awesome. I just figured they were too busy being awesome to respond to my silly emails. No biggie.
All of that big paragraph just to say that I got a response from them. The very anticlimactic finale to that story is that one of the guys who works on stuff for the magazine, and contributed heavily to the ramen issue, is working on a ramen cookbook. I should expect it sometime later in life.
Onto something a bit more interesting than that story, Back Alley Trey actually updated his website. Batman be praised! You should support this by clicking here.
Okay, well I’ve got to go get ready to “worship the lord”. Try to enjoy the rest of your weekend. Tell your mom I said what’s up and that I work out. More soon. ~SC
