Do you remember how you felt after you watched Batman Begins? If you are anything like me, you were excited about good Batman movies again. And then after The Dark Knight your excitement went up a notch or two. Well, get ready for your excitement to go up a few more notches.

If you haven’t seen The Dark Knight Rises yet, stop reading this and go watch it. Christopher Nolan just finished the greatest Batman movie series to date. Each film took you to a higher level of awesome than the previous film. I always say that you can gauge a film’s quality by how often you look at your wrist watch during the film. I didn’t even think to check the time on my fresh Gucci watch during the feature. Hell, I don’t think that I blinked during the movie.

Perhaps the best part of the entire trilogy is the suspended realism. Sure we’re not billionaires. And we don’t own a company that has a secret room full of military prototypes that we can play with, but still. Batman is just a dude who fights other dudes. They are real people. The Joker was just a totally insane dude. And then newest villain, Bane, is fucking terrifying. For real. Nolan made these characters as real as possible. No magic serums. No 4 foot pistols that shoot down bat shaped planes. No sidekicks that shout “Kowabunga!” while air surfing. Just weirdos in costumes beating the crap out of each other.

I could rant all day about how awesome the new Batman movie is, but I won’t. If you like the other two, go see the new one. Right now. Go. More soon. ~SC
