He’s really a nice guy, once you get to know him.

What’s up party people? It is Friday and boy have I got some goodies for you today. The past few days posts have sucked. I know. I’d say sorry, but I’m not. What I have been is uninspired. And that is probably why my inbox got flooded with goodies. In addition to those things sent by my dear friends, I actually did something noteworthy yesterday. Something other than squeezing mayonnaise into a Japanese girl’s open, waiting, eager mouth, that is.

I made Okonomiyaki. Roughly translated it means “your favorite fried thing”, but in reality it is pretty much a savory (rather than sweet) pancake. This was something that had been requested a few times, so I finally got off my duff and made it. Imagine mixing ground pork, leeks, cabbage, and okra into a pancake batter. Once you get the batter on the griddle you top with shrimp. Once the cake is cooked, you add a little shredded nori, some katsuobushi, a little Okonomi sauce, and, of course, mayo.

What it turns out to be is delicious. And it is totally food porn:

In addition to that sexiness, we had dinner here at Holliday Island, which we haven’t done in quite some time. We also had a new guest. So…
