The Sweet Sound.

Of tuning everyone out.

Yesterday was a long, long day.

We got up at 4:45am to workout.

And we ate breakfast.

And we showered.

And I took a two hour nap.

Before any of the children got up and disturbed my peace and quiet.

And then they awoke.

And I got to work around the house…

Fun fact: If you put earplugs in before putting ear goggles on, it blocks out almost ALL sound.

Other than the ringing that is happening in my head.

Thanks a lot, Dr. Dre.

But seriously.

You can hear almost nothing.

Sweet, sweet nothing.

Not your daughters fighting over the loaning of books that they’ll never read.

Not your son asking you for the fifteenth time what factors are in math and then failing to pay attention for the fifteenth time as you explain it once again.

Not any of the children complaining because they are hungry because they refused to eat the food you offered them and/or because it’s taking s-o-o-o-o long to make them food.

Not the dog ringing the bell on the front door to go out just to bark to come back in 30 seconds later only to run to ring the bells on the back door to go out and repeat this pattern over and over and over.

Not even the satisfying crunch of hammer to bone as you bludgeon the next person to scream “shuh uhp”.

Or the purr of the chainsaw as you dismember that person.

Or the soothing shoosh of the shovel as you dig their shallow grave.

Nope.

Can’t hear any of that stuff.

Not a peep.

Maybe we’ll get our test results today.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

See ya’ tomorrow.

More soon. ~SC
