“Do I Rue a Life Wasted Doing Crosswords?”

“Yes, but I do know the three-letter-word for regret.” – Robert Breault
The word of the day is: Adverse.

[ ad-vurs, ad-vurs ] adjective unfavorable or antagonistic in purpose or effect: adverse criticism. opposing one’s interests or desire: adverse circumstances. being or acting in a contrary direction; opposed or opposing: adverse winds. opposite; confronting: the adverse page. |
Mr. Boobodie is definitely adverse to trying new foods.
Sometimes the universe just sort of aligns.
Like how it’s the Year of Words.
And I rediscovered my love of crossword puzzles.
And the office got everybody calendars for their desks.
So I got the New York Times daily crossword calendar.
It’s just a very wordy year.
Or it’s going to be, anyway.
Maybe I’ll try to make a crossword using all the words from the photo project.
I mean I could make the crossword puzzle.
Or I could just ask Will Shortz to make it.
Hmmm…
It looks as though the best way to contact him is through his agent.
And that’s only for inquiries about booking appearances.
That won’t do.
I guess I’ll have to put my crazy hat on.
Okay, so I just sent an Instagram message to Lulu Garcia-Navarro.
Who is a host of Weekend Edition Sunday on NPR and who does the puzzle every week with, of course, Will Shortz.
If she’s willing to help me pitch this puzzle idea to Will, then we have a fighting chance at validating my craziness.
Worst case scenario is she ignores my message.
What did I lose from that?
Not a damn thing.
This is why you guys keep me around.
So you can watch me be a crazy person and contact strangers to ask them to do me a favor.
I’ll keep you posted on how this plays out.
I guess I should probably get ready for work now.
See ya’ tomorrow.
More soon. ~SC
