Excelsior!

Excelsior!

So, I finally did it. I bought a letterpress. I bought two in fact. I have one and the other should be here Monday or Tuesday. I bought two because the guy had two and would sell them both to me for relatively the same price as one of them. Plus K, over at Ars Brevis has been hunting for a small press to do demonstrations on. I won’t tell you what I paid for them, or rather what I will pay for them once the other one is delivered, but just know that it was a really great price. The kind of price that you know you cannot pass up. Wanna see it?

There she is, the Kelsey Excelsior.

There she is, the Kelsey Excelsior.

She is missing a few parts, which I am already pursuing. It needs the roller arms, the rollers, and a chase. All of which I can hopefully acquire from Johnny the Bull down at Shooting Star Press. After I get those parts I will be ready to print. Right after I get some type, and leading, and furniture, and some quoins, and a key for the quoins, and ink, and paper, and a new cover for the platen. Right after that I’ll be ready to print.

But all of that will have to wait. Because I am getting ready to head to War Eagle. I cannot help but think about how Metal that sounds. It sounds like a Metal Band.

“Hi, we’re War Eagle from Winterhaven, Florida, and this next song is the first song off our new album. It’s called “I’ll Bathe In Your Decadent Viscera”. One, two, three, four! Heeyeeeaaahaaaawww!”

Anyway, this craft show, not Metal. Think Autumn, in the mountains, in a tent, John Denver style. That is this show. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I do own the two-disc essential John Denver album.

Anywho, I’ve got bunches to do before I hit the road. Remember, no posts until Monday morning. Have a wonderful weekend. More soon. ~SC
