That’s When We Ate Asian Food and Got the Dirty Looks From the Jews.

So, for the past two nights I have slept like a rock. This is due, in part, to the fact that I have gone to bed late and with a very full belly.

Late Hours + Very Full Belly = Exhausted

Last night was the 2nd Annual S.A.N.D. Thanksgiving dinner. It was most excellent. I was dubious early on as to how the evening would turn out. This is due mainly to this:

Yes, that is a case of Four Loko.

But, the fact that Four Loko tastes like cough syrup aided in the evening being a low key one rather than a heartache inducing frenzy. We feasted and, boy, did we ever. The main course was a turkey roulade provided by Nicky the Cook. The roulade is made, pretty much, of an entire de-boned turkey flattened and covered with an apple and sausage stuffing, then rolled up into a big jellyroll. This is what was leftover after we got into it:

The skin on this thing was crispy perfection.

The rest of the crew provided the sides and desserts. Agent O and Shamrock made a back to back wonderfully orange-y and pecan-y Sweet Potato casserole and a fresh green salad with a stellar vinaigrette.

I made made the very trusty and decadent Baked Potato casserole.D-Man made a dubious looking, but pleasantly delicious warm pasta and green veggie salad.

That pretty much rounded out the entree part of the meal. That and a lot of wine. Then, the best part of any meal came. The Desserts. For starters, the Heat rocked us with an apple pie made with a wonderful crust and apples from the Evan Compound.

Then, Data K (Nicky’s Special Lady Friend, and first time S.A.N.D. guest) threw down with a “Better Than Sex” chocolate cake. I have to say, that it was not better than sex, but it was the best fucking chocolate cake, ever.

And to finish us off, Agent O and Shamrock once again brought the noise with some festive Autumn cookies. (Which I admit, I never made it to eating.)

By the end of the night, I was food drunk. The drive over to Little Peddler’s to pick up Pancake Land was, let’s say, strenuous. By the time I got home and made it to the bedroom, my head was swimming and my arms and legs were like wet noodles. Man, I love S.A.N.D. meetings. These are the family meals that we don’t get to have with our actual families.

So, here we are. At the end of a very long weekend. Tomorrow we go back to work. But, we still have today. Me? Well, I’m going to write this week’s article and lay around working on this big wholesale order. Maybe watch some No Reservations and various movies that Pancake Land has purchased from Amazon. That’s about it. I probably should go grocery shopping, but the fridge filled with leftovers is no motivation to go buy more food. We’ll see. Anyway, I’m off to lay about and type. More soon. ~SC
