A Day Off.
1October 18, 2011 by sandwichcontrol
I would like to start this day off post by wishing a very Happy Birthday to Mellie Mel. Be sure to wish her one as well.
Also, I would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Epic Meal Time who is celebrating their first birthday today. Enjoy:
How about that surprise guest at the end?
So, yeah, I’m taking the day off. I took half of yesterday off as well. Trying to get my house back in order. I would have said my life back in order, but it is going to take more than a day and a half to do that. Anyways, since I’ve been working so much lately and since the Grismas shopping ban is right around the corner, I decided to take a little break and buy myself some presnents. So, I got myself the Martha Stewart “Cookies” cookbook using some of survey taking credits. It should be here later today. I also pre-ordered the deluxe edition of Bad as Me, the new Tom Waits album. It should arrive on the 24th, which is the day it comes out. 2 discs, baby. Aw yeah.
I also went ahead and subscribed to Lucky Peach for the next year. In the next issue, Anthony Bourdain has a discussion about Road House. Could my favorite things combine any more? First, Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier did the commentary track on the DVD release of Road House and now Tony is going to wax poetic about it in probably the most amazing magazine I’ve ever read. (Or attempted to completely read.) Awesome. (This explains why I’ve updated the “Things You Can Buy Me” page. If you were wondering.)
What am I doing today? Well, as little as possible. That doesn’t mean too much these days though. I’ve got to do some laundry, maybe buy some groceries. I need to eat somewhere on assignment and then write this week’s article. This is sounding less and less like a day off. I did sleep in until 9am, though. Anyways, a day off from one job is a day I can focus on the other three.
That said, I’ma get to it. More soon. ~SC
