The Great Kitchen Getting Of 2011.

Good morning all. It is Friday. Whatever that means to you. One thing that it means is that my new article is up on the City Wire. It’s about cupcakes. If you wanna read about it, click here: Cream Filling.
I’m sure you’re dying to know about my meeting yesterday. To begin, I did not get an iPad. I had no real expectations of getting one, but it was fun to pretend. What I did get, however, is a chance to teach kids art and math and science in my own way. So, instead of one iPad, I was in a round about way offered a whole room full of iPads. The whole thing is still very much in the idea state, but I was very honored to be asked to participate in this from the ground level up. Who knows? I could be the next Sal Khan. I just need to get a handful of degrees from MIT and one from Harvard.
After my meeting, it was back to glazing. Le Duke forgot that he was firing a kiln, again, so Batman only knows what it will turn out like. All I know is that we are ready to refill it and fire again, thanks to my efforts this week. My glazing this week has been a point of contention with Zaxxon and Little Miss Cotton, who had expected me to help them muck out the entire shipping room. Do not let the name fool you. No shipping occurs in this room. It is where the shipping supplies live, but since the Royal family loves to collect things like cardboard and empty rice hulls, the room generally is full of random crap. This is where La Duchess enters the picture.
She has been upset about the current counter tops in the kitchen for a very long time. Not their appearance, they are homemade tile in her favorite glaze, but the height. The counters are Le Duke height, not La Duchess height. Eventually her discomfort at the kitchen spread throughout and she has been making plans for a while now. There has been some pretty excellent comedy gold occurring when she tries using the tape measure, but I digress. I’m sure you are wondering how remodeling the kitchen somehow got Zaxxon and Little Miss Cotton to clean out the shipping room. Well, it is quite simple really. She bought a kitchen online. Yes, an entire kitchen. Cabinets, counter tops, stove, the whole nine. She got quite the deal on it from what I hear. Unfortunately, we still have a kitchen in our kitchen at Lippincottonia. So, we need a place to store the new kitchen until the current kitchen space is ready for the new outfit. Hence the mucking out.
That also explains why Le Duke is on his way to pick me up in a UHaul truck. We are going to drive to Little Rock to get this kitchen. Awesome. So 2.5 hours there, move a kitchen into a truck, 2.5 hours back, and unload the kitchen into the shipping room. That’s my Friday. Luckily, Word to Me dropped off a whole box of dark chocolate M&Ms to me last night. Road snacks.
I don’t know how to smoothly segue back to last night after work, so I’ll just go there. Teacher Sis came and grabbed me and we headed back to her house for dinner of a big chef’s salad and two episodes of Bones. We hadn’t been able to watch last week’s episode, so we watched it, took a break, and watched the new episode. I don’t know how people watch television anymore. All the commercials are brutal. They totally ruin the flow of the show. Next week, we’re waiting a day or two to watch it on the dvr. Fast forward through that shit.
Prince Jazzbo was supposed to come and play with us, but no one could get ahold of him. This sent a bunch of people into a tizzy. Turns out he had taken one of his fancy new medications which said “May Cause Drowsiness” and then promptly knocked him out for 8.5 hours. Nice. Maybe I should get some of that. Or Ambien. It’s the best way to travel during the zombie apocalypse.
Moving on, this weekend is a weird one. Teacher Sis is working at The Attice tomorrow, so I’m running around with Word to Me instead. I’ve decided to splurge a little of my savings on a set of new cookware and give my old set to Prince Jazzbo. You know, since we threw all of his away because they were moments away from becoming sentient. Buying ban be damned.
Anyways, I’ve gotta go poop before Le Duke shows up and we hit the road. Have a great weekend. More soon. ~SC
