The wind is beating the crap out of my house.

It actually sounds like someone is walking around on the roof. The scary part is that the high today is not much warmer than it is right now. Cold and windy. Great. And I’m up before the sun. So, naturally, I have a mean chill in my bones and I haven’t even gone outside yet. Not to worry, though. I have the cure for the bone cold. I’m making feijoada. It has been slow cooking for the past 10 hours. And yes, my house finally smells of something other than peppers. Maybe I’ll make mashed potatoes to go with my meat stew.

Unfortunately, it is going to be cooking another 10 hours, so it does me no good now. I have 10 hours of cold to look forward to.

Come to think of it, I’m about to go to the bank for Jesus. I’ll be lugging all sorts of heavy stuff during that adventure and afterwards I’m going to continue the organizing of the letterpress shop, so more heavy lifting. I don’t think that I need to worry about being cold today. If, say, I was working at a garage sale and having to sit in a folding chair in the cold wind all day, I could be concerned. Not now though. It will be okay.

Yesterday we moved all of the type cabinets around in the print shop. If you’ve never moved or seen a type cabinet, imagine a four foot tall dresser with 22-24 drawers in it. Each drawer is filled with hundreds of little lead ingots shaped like letters. So, in other words, heavy. Now imagine nine of those. That’s what we moved yesterday. And after we got done moving those, we moved the composing table, which is about a three foot by four foot table made of steel with a four inch thick slab of marble on top of it. Also, heavy. Needless to say, I didn’t bother going to the gym last night. I made meat stew instead.

FeijoadaRight.

What else am I doing today? Pooping. Right now. More soon. ~SC

That stew looks absolutely toxic. Have fun digesting that.

That stew looks really good, or else I’m really hungry.

It was delicious beyond human words.
