Why Does It Smell Like Burning Syrup?

And why is it somehow my fault?
Yesterday was a day of doing the unexpected. Or at least stuff I forgot about needing to do. In the letterpress shop, the couple of hours I had planned on spending helping out with a demo, turned into four and a half hours of actually doing a print run and pulling a motor from one of the Vandercooks because it decided to fail. And by fail, I mean get hot, shut off, and start dumping oil into the interior of the press. Good times.
After that fun, I came home only to remember that I needed to go through the 2200 photos that I took Saturday at the derby event. So, I did that and found 35 whole images worth keeping. Well, I kept all of them, but 35 that I thought would be usable by the derby folks.
And hey, guess what day it is. It’s Copernicus’ 540th birthday! Happy Birthday Nico!
Be sure to do a little stargazing and a lot of Math today in celebration. It’s what he would have wanted.
Also, today is a very special day on Epic Meal Time. It is what happens when two things I enjoy cross over. Enjoy:
Yeah. Beavers.
Okay, well I’ve got homework to do before class. I hope you all have a good one. More soon. ~SC
