Your calendars all still are on July!

Today’s theme is: rhetoric.

Yeah.

I know.

All my calendars are still on July.

I’ll get to it.

Soonish.

Before September for sure.

Also, that bit of writing on the screen is the rough draft of the table of contents of my book.

That I’m writing.

In the same way I’m updating the calendars.

Yesterday was a lot of driving.

Yeah, well, what else is new?

I did learn that I am the fourth, possibly fifth, generation to make the banana bread/cake that I’ve been making lately.

That kinda blew my mind.

It could be an even older recipe, but I have no way of knowing for sure.

Unless one of my ancestors left a cache of letters or recipes that I don’t know about it.

If the recipe belonged to my great great grandmother it’s possible that she got it from her mother who would’ve been starting a family around the time that bananas became widely available in the United States.

Roughly the 1880s.

It’s a very simple recipe and all of the ingredients would’ve been normal stuff to keep around the kitchen.

So it’s plausible that it goes back that far.

Given a good chunk of my ancestors were indentured servants, I’m guessing they knew their way around a kitchen’s store cupboard.

Whatever this recipe is, it’s not like normal “banana cake” recipes.

And it’s not like normal “banana bread” recipes.

It’s this weird blend of the two.

With additional ingredients from neither.

Which says a lot about my family.

It all kinda makes a little more sense.

Anyways.

Enough rhapsodizing about generational recipes.

I’ve got a ton of shit to do today.
